"Eeeengleeeesh!" "...Retard!"

Hello Blogsphere! Thought I'd do a little blog update while I'm sitting in bed and contemplating getting up.

Weather here has been so nice here recently, really hot and sunny; I've been sunbathing and went on a picnic the other day; it's been around the 20 degree mark which has been amazing. However it is currently raining... but I will allow Lyon a day of rain if the weather picks up again.

St. Patricks Day was incredible! The whole of the Irish/British/French population came out in force in Vieux Lyon (where there are several Irish bars) and everyone was getting really into it. I pre-drank with the girls before we left; everything green naturally, which was fun, but I had to get the last bus home cause I had a massive headache which was a pain, but it was a really good night and everyone got really into it, even the French which surprised me quite a bit!

In other news; I've booked my Summer Ball ticket for Reading! It's on Friday 11th June, can't wait! Am going with the girls I used to live with last year; I miss them all loads, so can't wait to see them all again. Will be an amazing night, as Summer Ball always is; I'm going to try and find a dress in France but I don't know how much luck I'll have; we shall see.

Other future plans (still in the pipeline but they are going to happen!!) include going to see my cousin Rachel in NY in early July; haven't seen her since Christmas so will be good to see her, with my Auntie Sarah which I'm really excited about! I've been to NY before and am really excited about going back; we'll probably be there for about a week and I can't wait! I'm also going to apply for a grape picking job over Summer; (I say Summer but the grape picking season is in September lol,) the harvest can last from 7 to 18 days and pay's roughly 50€ a day (although it costs around 99€ to enter the programme lol, typical) I know it's going to be really hard work but it's something I'd really like to do; plus am already thinking of the benefits of coming back to the UK really fit and tanned haha!

While I'm at it, should probably explain the title to you all! I was on the bus with Hannah yesterday on the way to lectures, coming down the hill, and there were a couple of Spanish teenage boys sitting down and I was leaning against a pole so I wouldn't fall over, and they were being really weird/annoying; at one point they tapped me on the shoulder, and I was like whaaat... and then later one of them pushed his knee into me, and then when I leant my hand on the glass one of them put his hand to the other side of the glass, and I was like "that's really weird" to which they said "thaaa's reeeellliii wirrred," so I obviously retaliated with "that's really rude" to which they replied "ruuuuudeeee," and we were just about to get off the bus (finally!) when they said something along the lines of "eeeeengleeeesh!" to which Hannah (genius/god that she is,) pointed at them and said "retard!" just before we marched off the bus; honestly, it was hilarious!! I love her lol, classic comedy gold moment right there, it was amazing!

I've been getting really far with my Dissertation which I'm really happy about; I'm over a 1/10th of the way through (which doesn't sound a lot but believe me, it's definitely progress) and am finding myself really enjoying writing it (crazy, I know) which is brilliant! Time goes by quite quickly when I start writing it as well; if I keep on going as I am I think I could have it finished by the end of May when I come home for Summer, although I'm not holding my breath on that one :-P.

I went to the pub quiz at Wallaces last night; there were 6 of us and we were the youngest there, and there were 24 teams, and overall we came 5th which is actually quite impressive; especially as we were only 2.5 points away from winning! I think it's the most points we've ever got on a pub quiz here, so we were all pretty impressed with ourselves lol. Our team name was "Benny and the Jets" in honour of Sir Elton's birthday; Suzy's idea, but a pretty good one I thought lol; we're normally the "Andre Allix Army."

I've done some more babysitting recently and I've got some more in the pipeline which is good, especially considering my depleting resources! Oh and I've been made the Treasurer for the French Society next year (not sure if I've already said this on a previous post so apologies if I have, but it is very exciting, as I'm sure you'll agree.)

I'm coming home for a week on Tuesday (4 days time!!!!!!!!!!) which I'm looking forward too; however I'm also looking forward to coming back to Lyon again already! I can't believe I've got so little time left here; it doesn't seem right. I'm not sure how many people I'm going to get to see when I come back either so apologies in advance if I don't see you; but I've got a few family things that I'm going to and it's always hard to try and fit everyone in! But I'll be back in England at the end of May for good anyway, so will definitely catch up with everyone then!

Hope all reading this (as always) are well; will probably write a little post before I come home,

Bisous! Jess xx
