La vie en rose!

I can't believe how long it's taken me to get back writing this blog again! It is currently three months down the line from my last blog....whoops. I've been pretty busy so sorry if this turns out to be a long post!

Christmas was amazing, I had such a good time! We had Mum's side of the family round for Christmas Day, and then we went to visit Dad's Mum and his brother and wife (who flew over from Boston) in Emsworth on Boxing Day, and it was lovely to see all of the family again. The snow over Christmas was pretty too; so much of it! When I was home I also managed to see almost everyone I wanted to friends-wise too so that was good, even if it was expensive meeting up with everyone all the time, defo worth it! Natatalie and I managed another of our infamous trips to the pub, and I met up with Sophie in Redhill for lunch a couple of times, and went out for a few meals in East Grinstead/Lingfield, so all in all had a really nice Christmas break :).

Since I've been back in Lyon I've been having a really good term; I'm now following a different Translation course which is taught by this American guy who I absolutely LOVE (he may be about 60...this is besides the point lol) he's hilarious and he loves the English, which is good for Hannah and Mary and Neil and I lol, plus he seriously has the exact same voice as Stephen Hawking...amazing! I think he appreciates our input on translations too; he's always looking over at us if we're laughing about how he's translated something, or when he tells franglais jokes we're usually the only ones that understand so we're all cracking up and the French don't have a clue what's going on lol. Hannah's also fallen in love with him, from the moment he started quoting Shakespeare lol, but I was definitely there first haha. I'm also following a cinema class, but I'm not taking it for credit because I've got too much work to do for Reading (stupid Dissertation, although you'll all be pleased to know that I HAVE STARTED IT!!! Waheyy...) so I'm just following the classes which is helpful for my Dissertation which is also on Cinema. The last course I'm taking is a History of Literature one which is interesting but difficult; really not looking forward to the exam but touch wood it'll go ok; I don't have to pass my modules in order to come back to Reading next year but it does count for 40% of my Year Abroad mark, so I am slightly worried about that!

I've been going on loads of nights out since I've got back which have been so much fun; this term is so much better than the last one! Hannah's birthday was at the start of term and we went out a few times to celebrate that, all of which were really good (we celebrated it in Reading before we came back here too) and Bethan's birthday was in February which was lush too, and it's my birthday tomorrow so we're all going out again (surprise surprise!) so I'm really looking forward to that. I'm going to go to my favourite bagel shop tomorrow lunchtime for a birthday bagel (alliteration; just for Hannah lol) with some friends and then we're going out on a pub crawl around Vieux Lyon in the evening; then on Thursday night a load of us have got tickets to go and see Florence and the Machine in concert in Lyon which is going to be amazing!! And then on Friday morning Guy's flying over from home and he'll be here until Sunday, which I'm really looking forward too :) hopefully I won't be too tired to show him the sights though! I've been receiving some birthday post through and it's literally been torture not being allowed to open them lol, only one more day to go though!

J Lo came for another visit in February which was fun, hopefully Hannah and I will make it out to see him sometime soon! Plus I've been doing some more babysitting; the couple that I started off babysitting for passed my name on to another couple who have a 7 month year old daughter, and I went to babysit for her the other evening which was eventful...they do this thing where they put her to bed at around 7.30, then wake her up at 11pm, feed her a bottle then change her then put her back to sleep again and SUPPOSEDLY she just goes straight back to sleep straight after...didn't really happen though, did it. Lol she was up screaming until about 12, when she finally stopped crying; was a bit of a nightmare especially as I had to get up 4 hours later in order to go skiing for the day. I've been skiing twice (both times just for the day) since I've been back which has been a lot of fun; the first time we went in a big group of about 7 of us, only 2 of us having skiied before which was fun lol, but the others got a lesson and stayed on the baby slopes so we went off to do some runs which were really good; I'd never been to the Alpe du Grand Serre before but there was good snow and it had some really good runs. Then I went again the Sunday just gone (7th March) with Andrew (who'd been skiing before too) to Alpe D'Huez; I'd already been there for a week with family before so I recognised the piste a bit, but as I say I'd been babysitting the night before and hit a wall after lunch; I've really never skiied so badly before ever! I managed to break a ski, but luckily a nice old man from ESF (the french ski school) asked me if I was lost (I was carrying my skis up a run to get back to the top because I couldn't ski down the mountain on the broken ski; although I had just before tried sliding down on one ski and holding onto my poles and other ski; do NOT try this lol) and I said I'd broken it and he fixed it with his bare hands (I was quite literally in awe lol) thankfully, and then I could get going again lol. And on the final run of the day we went on a red one (not a good idea in hindsight as I was so exhausted) and I practically fell half way down the mountain lol. Needless to say I fell asleep on the way to and back from the mountain on the coach; it had been snowing in Lyon and the roads were horrific; it took us almost 5 hours to get back to Lyon on what should have been a 2 and a half hour journey because people were crashing all over the place and snow ploughs were out in full force, but at least we got back ok in the end.

I've also had my hair done in France since I've been back; I was absolutely terrified something was going to go wrong lol; I wanted a cut and a colour and Hannah just wanted a cut so we went together to this one that's about 5 minutes away from halls. They did the colour first and I said I wanted it a bit blonder than it was at the time, to which they kept on saying "super blonde;" I was pretty sure I was going to end up with white hair lol, but it turned out really nice in the end; I love the colour! And they managed to understand that I wanted it in layers, although I think she cut it a bit shorter than I would have liked, but it's already starting to grow out now and I do really love the colour, so all in all it was a success! Plus I also managed to do a bit of hairdresser banter with mine and with Hannah's hairdresser; I joked that she wanted 13cms off rather than 3 which everyone seemed to find hilarious lol, and I was talking to mine about what I'm studying etc and they were really friendly so that was good! :)

I haven't booked my flights home yet but I'm planning on coming home for about a week towards the end of March; will write on here when I book them so I can start thinking about arranging to meet up with everyone back home :) will book them in the next couple of days before easyjet decide to hike up their prices much more! And last month Dad and Mum and I decided when they're coming to pick me up for good; so I'll be back in the UK for good on Monday 31st May 2010, which seems SO soon, and I know that the next few months are going to fly by and before I know it I'll be back in Edenbridge, which is such a crazy thought, so I'm just going to make the most of my time out here before I'm back in rainy England again!

Can't think of anything else to say so will write again on either Monday or Tuesday next week, after Guy's been and gone! Hope all reading this are well,

Bisous! Jess xx
